India's longest river bridge
- Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T) won the bid to construct India’s longest road bridge over a river.
- Before this, 9.15-km-long Bhupen Hazarika Setu was India's longest road river bridge.
DETAILS
- The bridge was first proposed in 2015.
- In 2019, the Union cabinet approved the project.
- The bridge will be from Dhubri (Assam) to Phulbari (Meghalaya) on NH 127B.
- It will be built for the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.
- The length of the bridge is to be 19.8 km long.
- It will be built across the river Brahmaputra.
- It will cost ₹3166 crore.
- The project is being financed by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).
- It is expected to be completed by 2026-27.
