India's first railway station with a green building certification

  • Gujarat's Kevadiya railway station is India's first railway station with a green building certification.
  • It has been registered with the Indian Green Building Council for being India’s first station to be Green Building certified.

STATUE OF UNITY

  • The station will contribute in increasing access to Statue of Unity. 
  • PM Narendra Modi recently showed the green signal to eight new trains to Gujarat’s Kevadiya to connect the Statue of Unity with other parts of India.
  • Also, to enhance the connectivity PM Modi launched a new Broad Gauge line of 32 km from Chandod to Kevadiya.

Ordinance for setting up commission to manage NCR air quality

 The name of ordinance is: The Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Ordinance, 2020. Through the Ordinance, the Centre has also dissolved the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) for the NCR (EPCA was created in 1998). BACKGROUND  The Ordinance came within days of the hearing in ‘Aditya Dubey vs Union of India’ in the court of the Chief Justice of India, where Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had indicated the setting up of such a Commission. OBJECTIVES The Ordinance seeks to create an overarching body to consolidate all monitoring bodies, and to bring them on one platform so air quality management can be carried out in a more comprehensive, efficient, and time-bound manner. WhatsApp, Government And New Rules

Recently, messaging platform WhatsApp has moved the Delhi High Court to challenge the traceability provision in the New IT Rules 2021 . Earlier the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) had sent a notice to WhatsApp asking it to withdraw a controversial update to its privacy policy which might be a threat to Data Protection of Indians. TRACEABILITY PROVISIONS It requires intermediaries to enable identification of the first originator of information on their platforms. Rule 4(2) of the Intermediary Rules states that a significant social media intermediary providing services primarily in the nature of messaging shall enable the identification of the first originator of the information on its computer resource as may be required by a judicial order or an order passed by a competent authority under the Information and Technology (IT) Act 2000.
