India’s First Air Taxi Service Begins From Haryana
- Under the UDAN scheme of the central government, India’s first air taxi service has recently started from Haryana.
- State Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the small aircraft service which was scheduled to operate from Chandigarh to Hisar.
- Air Taxi Aviation Company is operating the aircraft service.
- The taxi aircraft features a total of 4 seats.
- According to Khattar, the air services would also start from Hisar to Dehradun in the second phase, while in the third phase two more routes will be added.
UDAN
- Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) was launched as a regional connectivity scheme under the Ministry of Civil Aviation in 2016.
- It is an innovative scheme to develop the regional aviation market.
- The objective of scheme is to create affordable yet economically viable and profitable flights on regional routes so that flying becomes affordable to the common man even in small towns.
- The scheme is operational for a period of 10 years.
- UDAN 4.0 was announced in 2019.
